Turn the handoff from sales to delivery into a structured, visible and repeatable client onboarding process.
The onboarding flow
Example journey
Deal Won → Create Client → Create Project → Assign Team → Request Information → Kick-off → Delivery → Acceptance → Handover
Sales-to-delivery handoff
Define the minimum information sales must provide before delivery starts: client details, scope, commercial package, contacts, deadlines, special requirements and source CRM ID.
Create the project from a template
Templates make repeatable work consistent. The new project can include standard tasks, owners by role, dependencies, milestones, checklists and required client inputs.
Client information and documents
Track required documents and decisions as explicit items or fields. Automated reminders can reduce follow-up work while keeping the project owner responsible for exceptions.
Kick-off readiness
Use a readiness status rather than scheduling a kick-off before prerequisites are complete. A dashboard can show which new clients are waiting on information, internal preparation or scheduling.
Move into delivery cleanly
When onboarding completes, the workflow should transition ownership and preserve context. Avoid creating an unrelated delivery board that loses the decisions captured during onboarding.
Measure onboarding
Useful measures include time from Won to kick-off, missing-information delays, overdue onboarding actions and the number of exceptions requiring management attention.
